Hello,

I have the following details from a marriage certificate.

James John WALL b. ? Greenwich, Kent - parents Charles Robert WALL & Emma Spray ? STEPHENS. ?

John's spouse was born in 1865 and they married in 1893 in NSW so that gives a rough idea when John was born.

So far I've not found the marriage of Charles to Emma. I have not found James' death or his arrival in Australia. One of the witnesses to the marriage in 1893 was a Dudley Charles WALL.

Regards,

Dave

Hello Steve,

Well now. You like the English ones. :2fun:

Thank you very much. I think the 'Dudley' bit must have helped. Dudley should be in the shipping records also. I can't see his arrival or a marriage or his death in NSW but he was a witness to the 1893 marriage of his brother James. Very clearly says Dudley Charles Wall.

I'll see if I can confirm that arrival. Ok, that vessel is not on the Bounty list so I can't look up the origin and occupation for James on-line.

Regards,

Dave

Yes. No doubt you have the right family. Charles is listed as a merchant in the marriage record. And the census have Emma S. The 'Spry' / 'Spray' was a bit hard to read.

Dudley is a bit of a mystery. I know were he was on 8 May 1893. :2fun: In the Wesleyan Church at Camden, NSW. I wonder if it is coincidence or not that the minister was a William WALL.
