Hello Julie,

Thank you very much.

Now to prove he belongs in my tree. ;)

Please see if you can find James in 1871 and I'll check 1881.

Hello Julie,

Thanks for looking.

I'l see what I can find on the children.

I googled James as a minister and found nothing so far.

Births Sep 1857
Malcolm Mary Evangeline Bermondsey 1d 72

That's the sort of 'proof' I like. :D PORTERFIELD

Births Sep 1859
MALCOLM James Porter Field Leicester 7a 188

Ok, I have a whole new branch to my tree. ;)

Regards,

Dave

I'm way back at the birth of daughter Jessie. :)

Hello Julie,

It looks as though this James born Largs, Ayr would be Porterfield's nephew.
I had three brothers in my tree, sons of Robert & Jean PORTERFIELD, marriage about 1785 not yet found.

I can't find a birth or baptism record yet for Porterfield to prove he is the youngest son.

Regards,

Dave

Hi Dave, my name is Cheryl Jones and I have just joined this forum today so I am a complete novice. I came across this post via a google search and felt I just had to contact you. I am tracing my great, great, great grandfather's family. His name is Ebenezer Milner and his sister is Susan Staples Milner(married to James Malcolm) whom I understand you have been tracing. I have further info regarding the family if you are interested.

Hello Cheryl,

welcome to FHUK.

The MALCOLM family is one of my direct lines but James is off the side a bit. I have a lot of info on the family but not a lot on James hence these posts.

After two more posts your username will turn green and the PM (Personal Message) system will be available to you.

Regards,

Dave

Thank you Dave. I would be very interested to know more about your line and the connections to the Malcolm family. Jame's bro in law is a Thomas Hughes Milner, a quite well known Baptist minister that also had connections with Australia! Look forward to hearing more about your research.

Regards

Cheryl :)
