Thanks Ellie.

Rebecca fits as a daughter of the John Kilfedder who died in 1884. What I don't have is proof from shipping record that Alice is a sister.

Unassisted Inward passenger Lists to Victoria 1852-1923
KILFEDER ALICE 23 JAN 1871 ESSEX B 300 006
KILFEDER REBECCA 20 JAN 1871 ESSEX B 300 006

If Alice is a sister then she arrived unmarried and there is NO marriage in Australia for Alice to a James Naughton. When Alice died in Ballarat Hospital she was a widow aged 80 with the name Naughton.

That means we have 2x Alice daughter of a John Kilfedder a farmer of Kinlough/Moneen.

And this gets even more complicated as Mary Ann often called Ann or Annie, a sister of Rebecca, also died as a Naughton and had children with the father listed as James Naughton and again NO marriage found.

Same ship as John about 3 pages back

Can you post that bit on John thanks Ellie. I have John, a brother of Rebecca in Australia but no arrival for him or brother James Michael.

Ok, that can't be the brother because John married in Victoria in 1868. And James Michael married in Victoria in 1865.

There should be a death for a second Alice Naughton with father John Kilfedder.

There should be a death for the James Naughton who married in 1870 in Rossinver.

There is one born Sligo who married a Mary Ann OLEARY and he died in Victoria in 1920.

Death 1920 NAUGHTON James 78 Unk Unk UNK d. Brunswick North, Vic. #9063

You can tell from the names of the children in his death notice that he did not marry a Kilfedder.
