For info the entry reads "James Owen of Benthall Elizabeth Beard of ye Parish"

Can't find any suitable baptisms, presuming that they were in their 20's when they married.

A bit more sarching has produced the following children born in Madeley to a James Owen and wife Elizabeth

Thomas 1745-1747
Eustace 1747
Edward 1754-1756
James 1756
John 1759
Busk 1761

There is a death in Madeley for a James Owen in 1763

Baptism for Elizabeth Beard 12 March 1727 in Benthall parents Eustace and Elizabeth Beard

Marriage for Eustace Beard to Elizabeth Hotchkiss 4 August 1722 in Madeley

Possible death for Eustace 1761 Madeley.

Thanks again, Em'..

Certainly a contender for William Goodwin = Elisabeth Owen, the death of James Owen in 1863 fits well.

The fact that Elizabeth Beard was born in 1727 raises a question over the birth of William Goodwin. If your William is the one born 1740 then he would be 13 years younger than his wife.

Also I can't find a Mary Beard born to Eustace. I'm presuming you are thinking that Mary Beard, the witness at Mary and Elizabeth's marriage, was her sister. Don't forget Beard coul;d be a married name.

More questions than answers!

I can't find the marriage but FS has a Richard Beard having children in Madeley in the 1760's afound the time of William Goodwin's marriage to Elizabeth. Richard's wife is named as Mary and Eustace Beard and Elizabeth Hotchkiss had a son Richard in 1733 in Madeley. Therefore it is possible that Mary Beard is Elizabeth Beard/Owen's sister in law.
