Parents both died after 1861.

I can't find the marriage so don't know if it was before or after 1851 census. Can't find John and Helen in 1841 or 1851 in Lanark.

According to FS there is only one James born Lanark 1853 +/- 1 in 1861 and 1871 in Bridgeton.

I usually put the POB exactly as it appears on the census/register, having said that, in 1861 Helen says she was b. St Andrew, Edinburgh.

Married in Lanark and that 1871 is the only James born Midlothian but in Lanark in 1871. There are 7 others born 1852-1854 Midlothian and in Midlothian in 1871.
