Hello Joyce,

Dundee is a city and parish in county of Angus - which was previously called Forfarshire.

The GENUKI site is great for background info and maps and parishes and links:

http://www.genuki.org.uk/big/sct/ANS/index.html

"Angus is an ancient administrative unit, although its name, and areas covered, has changed over the years. Originaly called Forfarshire, it included the burghs of Arbroath, Brechin, Broughty Ferry, Carnoustie, Dundee, Forfar, Kirriemuir, Monifieth and Montrose, and the inhabited islands of the Bell Rock, and Inchbroach (or Rossie)."

Regards,

Dave

Hello juliejtp,

:) Sorry, I have no idea. I have not seen any census listings for the family and had no idea Ireland came into the picture.

The information I was given simply says Robert and Agnes were born in Scotland, married in Angus and had two children born in Dundee.

The birth I gave for Robert is the only one I got from SP because at the time he was the only one in my tree. There are probably other children born between Jul 1849 and 1858.

Regards,

Dave

Hello juliejtp,

Thank you very much. It looks like the family. There are enough names and dates that fit well enough. Interesting because that is way before the first reference I have to them being in Australia, and that is 1894.

Regards,

Dave
