Has each one got two dates, Dave, or are my eyes deceiving me? If I am right one will be birth and second baptism. Still trying to work out the Party bit, looks like an abbreviation for a place so perhaps a map might help. Will get back when I have a think!

I think the head part will be part of the name of the place, they don't usually put head in a christening otherwise.

So somewhere like pathhead cept there looks like a tail at the end of the first part of the word.

Hello Barbara,

That image is the full width of the page but not the full length of the page.

Only the one date. I know you can't tell from the index if it's a birth or baptism date until you view the actual image and then you usually get two dates.

26/07/1812 BELL JANE JOHN BELL/JANE CROSS FR236 (FR236) F OLD MONKLAND OR COATBRIDGE /LANARK 652/00 0010 0306

I think it's Pathhead. Words are split such as Weav-er. The columns are headed:

1812 Ch P W

Ch = Christian name

P = Parents

W = ???

Regards,

Dave

Only theory I have is short for congregation meaning in front of as opposed to at home and the W could be where.

Not totally convincing myself, just an idea.

I would have said it is usually witness or cautioner but suppose it will be different areas use different words. But if it is witness the congregation would be the witness.
