married 1814 Windsor to Alice Maurice (1788-1823) – V A – given permission to marry on Colonial Sec papers – Matthew Millur per “Indian” to Alice Morris per “Broxbornebury” - page 382 – 25 Nov 1814

Alice Muer convicted 19 Aug 1813 Northumberland Assizes for larceny arrived 28 July 1814 NSW on “Broxbournebury” died 18 June 1823 NSW

off notes:

Jane’s father was Matthais Muller b 1781 Gros Perlensen Prussia, he enlisted in the British Army as a mercenary in the King’s German Legion on 12 Oct 1807. He served previously (or 1st) in Denmark.

On 22 April 1808 he deserted. As a Private in the 2nd Company, 3rd Line Inf Bat he was court martialed in Messina Sicily on 30 April 1808 & sentenced to death for desertion & theft of 2 silver watches belonging to fellow soldiers in his regt. His sentenced was commuted to transportation for life in NSW – sentenced 20 July 1808. details on documents:

Native Place Germany, Trade sailor/laborer, court martialed Messina 22/04/1808 for life

Time spent on board the hulk “Prudenlia” at Woolwich UK, sailed “Indian” 18/07/1810 from England arrived Sydney 16/12/1810. No yr of birth, height 5ft 6 3/4”, complexion dark, sallow brown hair, hazel eys – Date of pardon 31/01/1816

Matthias was granted freedom in 1816 and land in Richmond NSW. He became a Constable & married & had 2 children. His wife died in about 1827 & he remarried in 1828. His new wife was not of sober habits and 8 weeks after their marriage he killed her (accidentally according to him) by strangling her in a dwelling in Darling Harbor. He was sentenced to hang but a large number of people petioned & he was given banishment to Moreton Island Penal Colony in 1828
