Neither of these deaths have Peat or Johnston as the other surname.

I presume that Alexander died (haven't found a death) and Agnes then married James Hope using her maiden name. The marriage has her father as George Peat, a Barber.

On the 1851 Census Ann and Alexander are the children of Agnes and Alexander Johnston and therefore James Hope's stepchildren. It looks as though the family was unable to decide which name to use!
