James & Jane DONALD and James & Jane AITKEN

14/04/1807 COCHRAN JAMES JAMES COCHRAN/JANE DONALD FR375 M KILBARCHAN /RENFREW 568/00 0010 0481

11/04/1819 COCHRAN JOHN JAMES COCHRAN/JANE AITKEN FR1258 M ABBEY /RENFREW 559/00 0030 0572

Two death certificates with the same parents - one informant a husband John Hutchison and the other a nephew, his son James Hutchison. So how reliable is 'James' and 'Jane Wylie' ??

Jane abt 1810
Anne abt 1811
Andrew abt 1818
Elizabeth 1818-1822

So can't tell how many children might be missing to use naming pattern.

If it is not Jane Wylie then there are 5 baptisms in Lanark for an Andrew Cochran.

A baptism for an Elizabeth with matching parents.

Not one for Jane or Anne with same parents.

The above and James Cochran & Jane Wylie appears to be where the problem lies

If we rule out Wylie and assume James and Jane are correct then we are missing a son James.

If we assume James and Jane and Wylie are all wrong and look at the only son we have Andrew then there are three marriages for an Andrew Cochran - Catherine McKenzie, Agnes Brewer, Jean Foster.

Can't find baptisms for the four children we have with same parents. We are stuck.

Probably coincidence Elizabeth and Andrew are in Rutherglen in 1841.

The later census for Elizabeth does not have pob as Rutherglen.

They are probably in Rutherglen because of William

William b. 7 Sep 1814 c. 25 Sep 1814 Rutherglen, Lanark, Scotland
Thomas KERR & Mareon Warnock
Batch: C116542

I'd say we give this a rest.

Dave
