I have looked at this family before and think you are right enough. The name is more like Burnett not Brind on the original which I must have looked at in 2016! But I put it down to the husband no knowing or forgetting his wife's mother's name. Especially as she says in 61 that she is born at Kingston which is just a very small hamlet at Dirleton and Jean daughter of Wm Runciman and Jean Cockburn was born at Kingston. I could find no marriage for a Wm Runciman to anyone named Burnett or any similar name.

I think SP have made the 1881 census free. Oh.

This is an additional index for the 1881 census which links to a transcription rather than a digital image of the record. The indexing was coordinated by the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints (LDS). The search form includes address, census place and birth place rather than county and district. The transcriptions are free to view.
