Just a possibility for Jane in 1841

Releath Croft, Crowan, Helston

Joseph Matthews 28 Tin Miner
Johanna Matthews 36
Johanna Matthews 3
Jane Matthews 13

Joseph Matthews married Johanna Waters in Crowan 23 December 1837 so unlikely Jane is Joseph's daughter. She could be Johanna's but more likely a niece helping to look after little Johanna?

Just a thought.

St Keverne and Crowan and Redruth are not close together.

The marriage has 'miner' and the census have 'farmer' yet it seems from the births on GRO that it's the right family in 1851, 1861 and 1871.

Elizabeth Jane in 1841 ?

Joseph & Joanna in 1861 and 1871 thanks. I found them yesterday on FS but had no time to save them. Didn't get as far as searching 1881.

Two puzzles. Elizabeth Jane in 1841 and marriage has miner but census has farmer.

EDIT: There is a Joseph Matthews [29] and family next door.
Thanks Geoff.

This is also a bit of a problem - St Keverne and Crowan - a fair distance apart

Joesph a miner baptised at St Keverne married a Joanna

Joseph a farmer born Crowan with a Joanna.

Registration district: Helston
Ref: Piece: 2327; Folio: 91; Page: 2; ED: 10
John Matthews 30 [Famer of 40 acres]
Johanna Matthews 75 wid mother
James Watters 81 lodger

Thanks Geoff.

I can only find one Joseph with a Joanna/Johanna in census.

And this seems to say we have the right family following on from marriage.

James Watters 81 lodger

James Walters
christening: 19 April 1801
father: William Walters
mother: Joan

Searching for Joanna returns John.

Joanna's father is Thomas. The lodger is not a brother.
Too many Benjamin & Mary in Cornwall.

Benjamin c. 11 May 1794 Breage, Cornwall
Benjamin MATTHEWS & Mary

Joseph James c. 12 Jan 1812 St Keverne, Cornwall
Benjamin MATHEWS & Mary

If Jane is with an uncle in 1841 then Joseph and Benjamin (1794) are brothers.
