Orbit for Walter Eric Stimson – The Biz Thur 25 May 1967
Legendary
The district mourns the passing at hospital on May 18, of one of its most esteemed citizens, Mr. Walter Eric Stimson, of Thorney Road, Fairfield West, at the age of 70 years. The deceased gentleman was born in Fairfield and was a member of a pioneer family of the district. For many years he had conducted a vineyard in Thorney Road. The name of Stimsonis legendary in Fairfield. A grandfather of the deceased had been granted a vast acreage of land by the Government of the day, and there are many marks of respect to the family in the names of streets, etc. existing today. Many people will remember Walter Eric Stimson as a milk vendor many years ago, who, through an efficient service, won many friends. He always maintained an interest in sport, and four of his sons, Eric, Keith, Rodger and John are amongst the best cricketers to come from Southern Districts. Tributes from two outstanding Fairfield West citizens fully describes the merits of a gentleman the district mourns. Mr. Frank Gaudrey, who had known Mr. Stimson for 29 years, describes him as a remarkable citizen and a generous man in everyway. Mr. Vic Moore, who had been a close associate of the deceased for 45 years, had this to say:'Eric Stimson was a grand citizen, one of the greatest the district has known, generous in every respect and his passing is a loss the district can ill afford'. Condolence is extended to the bereaved widow, Mrs. Jean Stimson, sons Eric, Keith, Roger and John, and daughters Margaret (Mrs. B. Kable), Joan (Mrs. B. Kable), Florence (Mrs. B. Callicott). Deceased had served with distinction with the 2nd Battalion during World War 1 and had been wounded and gassed.

Thanks Val.

The only other CRAPP I can find is one by marriage - nee Campbell so ruled out. Thomas seems to be the only one in the index.

Not many Jean Stimsons in NSW around 1927. This one can be ruled out.
