This maybe a wild goose chase.

But can anyone see a baptism for John Bedford c1783, to a William & Sarah Bedford. William Bedford is a Carpenter/Coffin maker.

Other siblings were born @ St Sepulchre, Holborn, London. 1777, 1779 & 1781.

Thanks.

There is a death for a John Bedford [nothing too helpful though, apart from age]. I suspect you've probably seen this, given your enquiry...

John Bedford
Record Type: Burial
Death Date: abt 1783
Burial Date: 24 Jan 1783
Burial Place: St Sepulchre, Holborn, City of London, London, England
Register Type: Parish Register

The image looks like age = 7w.

FS has it and just says age = 0.

Yes, thanks Geoff. I had seen those.:)

Although the first, had been born and died, no baptism for John Bedford, nor any later for a 2nd John.
The reason I ask, is there has been a Bedford family member, contacting me for the marriage of the parents, that is, William Bedford to Sarah Hill in 1774, @ Christchurch in London. This relative does not give any other information, apart from what I have already have, as yet.

I have found the marriage Allegations & Bond, for William Bedford & Sarah Hill, but no actual marriage date. I can't view the images, but one says 17th Aug 1774, the other says 18th Aug 1774. I can only assume that latter(18th), is the Allegation, the former(17th) is the Bond.

As I can't find any other John Bedford births to William & Sarah, I doubt I'll be going any further with it.

I have enquired for further information of his link to me.

£200 in those days, is quite a bit of cash to lose, if William Bedford backs out, with no good reason.

As Sarah Bedford(nee.Hill) dies in 1812, in the parish of St Sepulchre, Holborn City of London, I can assume they did marry. Plus the fact that there was a Sarah Hill baptised at St Sepulchre, Holborn City of London. in 1753, to Joseph & Rebecca Hill, this all seems to add up.

I think I have convinced myself, that they did marry, but without the actual marriage it's by no means 100% certain.

I have no access to the original burial register, to see if there are further details.

Thanks Geoff.O0

Is there a baptism for John Bedford, 6 Jan 1783 @ St James, Clerkenwell, Middlesex, to William & Sarah Bedford. Is there an original record to be seen.
There is, but it is a different church/area and that wouldn't agree with the burial with the burial in post #2 [7 w] Another source has 2 months.

England, C of E Baptisms, Marriages and Burials, 1538-1812
John Bedford
Record Type: Baptism
Baptism Date: 6 Jan 1783
Baptism Place: St James, Clerkenwell, Islington, Middlesex, England
Parents = William Bedford & Sarah Bedford
Register Type: Parish Register

Oh!

Got the image now... Looks like your persistence may have paid off... Even though a different area it could still be yours because the DoB is given as Nov 30 - So 7w or 2 months at death would about right.. Nice.

If you want a copy, let me know.

John Turner Bedford
Gender: Male
Baptism Date: 19 Jan 1784
Baptism Place: St James, Clerkenwell, Islington, Middlesex

The image has birth = 19 Jan and bap. 15 Feb, so another minor error.

Ok then. This John Bedford dies, so he was the one born St James, Clerkenwel.1783, as mentioned earlier.

John Turner Bedford, the Artist, is the one born 1784, St James, Clerkenwell.

So that's them accounted for, I think. Unless anyone knows, or has found anything else.:)

I now have a month of subs paid for, so I best make good use of it.

Thanks Geoff, and MLT.:)
