The late Mr. Benton was born in the Isle of Wight, near the late Queen's Castle, on 12th March, 1809, and came to Australia in the year 1851. ?

If John arrived in 1851 then Caroline was still in England in 1852. Either way arrival/arrivals not yet found. Marriage not found.

............ Mr. Benton received an early appointment in the police service of New South Wales, and was heard, of in Gundagai as far back as forty years ago, as lock-up keeper at Gundagai.
