Looking at the Marriage announcement in 1857 it states that emily is the youngest daughter of the late Captain Church. This implies that Captain Church is deceased. However it also states that John is the second son of William Henry Broughton. It doesn't say the late William Henry so implies that he is still alive.

I don't suppose the 1821 death could be the father of William Henry could it?

I think the William who died 1821 is the wrong William.

Thanks Emeltee.

I have to check a few things. One says William and the other W H = William Henry.

No sign of a baptism in NSW index around 1832 for John.

V1810464 147A/1810 BROUGHTON WILLIAM - SIMPSON ELIZA C - CB= CofE St. John's Parramatta

SAG 0055
St. John's Parramatta
No. 328
William Broughton otp St Philip of Sydney
Eliza Charlotte Simpson of Parramatta were
married in this Church by Special Licence Granted by Govr. L. Macquarie
this fourth Day of December 1810 By me Samuel Marsden
Parties signed: William Broughton, Eliza Charlotte Simpson
Witnesses: Jas R. Kennedy, Jane Kennedy

That would mean there should be a baptism for a son W H.

Thanks gibbo.

Now I'm really lost.

W H born abt 1801.

Baptism BROUGHTON WILLIAM 1087/1802 V18021087 1A WILLIAM - ELIZABETH (HEATHORN)

I don't know if that is the right baptism.

The one who died 1821 could be this one.

I'm lost with so many Williams.

Parents of John( born abt 1832) who died 1924 are W H & Mary. W H was still alive in 1857 and he died 1858 in his 57th year.

John's grandfather was William.

The Sydney Morning Herald (NSW : 1842 - 1954)
Thu 23 Oct 1924

MR. JOHN BROUGHTON.

The late Mr. John Broughton, a pioneer of the west, whose death was announced in yesterday's "Herald," was a son of the late Mr. W. H. Broughton, who owned Broughtonsworth station, near Boorowa. It was after leaving Cockedgedong station, Urana, that Mr. John Broughton took over Marengo station, near Young, afterwards joining the late Mr. F. A. Brock in a stock and station business in Young. Mr. Broughton was born at Brough-tonsworth station. He has left two sons—Mr. J. W. Broughton, inspector in the Bank of New South Wales; and Mr. Ernest Broughton, station manager at Young—and four daughters—Mrs. C. G. Tuson, of Turramurra; Mrs. Clayton, of Young; Mrs. A. W. Moriarty, of Goulburn; and Mrs. W. P. Bluett, of Queanbeyan.

The 1810 Marriage was William's 2nd so there should be a death for Elizabeth but not in the index.

The 1810 marriage does not give status.

The 1801 birth/1802 baptism must be that of W H.
