Hi,

I am looking for the date of death or any other information about John Bryce He was the second husband of my Great Aunt Margaret Parker. They married in Canada.

All I know about him is contained in a news paper cutting announcing his death but I don't have the date of the paper!

John Bryce, of 88 Bond street North, died yesterday in his sixty-ninth year. Born in Scotland he has been a resident of Hamilton since 1912. He was a Sargent in the Black Watch Regiment during World War One. Mr Bryce was an employe of the Westinghouse Company for the last 45 years and a member of the senior Veterans' Association of that company.

Edward its surprising how many Johns Bryce's there are, a few from Scotland.
When was your aunt born it may give an idea as to Johns age and what was her name from the 1st marriage, as at the moment I cant find a John and Margaret Bryce, unless the name has been mistranscribed.

Edward not having any luck with this one. There is a service record (amongst many) for a John Bryce born abt 1896 regiment name Black Watch with 3 question marks along side it. Will go back to the passenger lists and have another look if he lived in Hamilton since 1912 then he must be on a passenger list, there are John Bryces, but which one :-\

Hi Edward,

Havnt got round to going over the passengers list. Do you know when Margaret died I found a death on the cemetary records for a Margaret Bryce Co Wentworth .......Hamilton, thats all the info it gave looks like a fee is needed to view. Does this sound right if John lived in Hamilton for 45yrs from 1912 then would that make his death about 1957?

Hi Julie,

I have Margaret's death as 1982. I don't know when John Bryce died I know that when My Great Aunt visited the UK around 1966 she came by her self so if may have been before that.

Theres the same stone ref no for one of the John Bryces and Margaret
married woman could be listed twice under the maiden name and married name. The Margaret Bryce (Webb) is she your Margaret as Webb being her 1st marriage?

Hi Julie,

Thanks for that I think that will be the correct one she was called Webbie by some of her Canadian friends.

I think that that will be correct even though Webb was her name from the first marriage. Her maiden name being Parker.

Thanks

Ed
