Hi everyone,

One of my ancestors, John Butler Furlong, is listed (1877 Bucks Directory) as living in Upton and associated with a Boarding School. This makes sense because he was a teacher. He was born in Cosheston, Pembrokeshire and was in Luton, Beds in the 1871 UK Census. I would like help finding out more about his role at the school and exactly where it was situated. I assume he lived in the area, if not at the school itself.

Any help will be greatly appreciated.

Andy

on the 1881 census John was aged 12. His father George 38 was a school master

Edit - looks as if John may be the brother of George I found in 1661, On 1871, John B is at St Johns College, Luton

I think we need confirmation of your John B's age. Steve is right in that there is a John B on the 1871 census aged 22 an English teacher. I believe he is brother to George my subject on 1881 census,.
