It is claimed Sarah died in Cheshire in 1889 after having remarried in 1854 and 1859 in England.

So John arrived in Australia without Sarah 1852 - 1858. ???


I'd like a look up please for John in 1851 - should be Chester St Peters and 1841 Manchester, Lancs. He was a blacksmith.

Something is fishy. John married in 1858 in NSW. I don't have a copy of that one yet but it will probably show him as a bachelor, unless he describes himself as a widower. Looks as if he up and left Sarah 1852-1858.

The 'dentist' must be an error. John worked on the goldfields in NSW as a blacksmith.

Still searching shipping records for him and checking if the various trees are correct.

Colwell is not Caldwell but the 'Manchester and American papers please copy' bit seems to tie it to William & Hannah.

I can't see any major problems so it looks as if John just up and left.

I'll still try to find this NSW marriage on film - not important enough to pay for a copy:
