I think STR is SPR Sapper.
Looking again the the medal card it reads:-

Cousins JF Cheshire Regt Pte (Private) regt no. 14478
" " I.W. & D R.E. Spr Regt no WR323606

The RE cap badge is totally different from the one in the picture.

Julie all again thank you for all you help, now stop again have a cup of tea and put your feet up.
I often woundered what this john cousins and all my other ancestors would think, if they knew we were researching them.
i decided to write as much information on myself and all my family I have lost, i.e height, hair colour, eye colour and complextion. I also decided to write all my address details, work details.
I sat down and realised I didn't know what were my sons and siblins likes, dislikes. what their favourite colours were, authors or music and films or interests. I know they are my sons and brothers and sister, but there were details little ones that i personaly didn't know about them.
With their permission i have writen and recorded all this extra infomation into my family history details. John cousins could have helped us couldn't he, but then he didn't know so I will let him and all the other ancestors off on this occation.

 :2fun: :D :) sue

Had cuppa, feet up. Most of our ancestors are probably up there cringing about what we are going to find. You had me thinking about what my oh and son and daughter like and dislike. I cant even tell what colour my daughetsr eyes are. Its not because I cant remember  I honestly cannot find a precise colour to compare with. She and her hubby are coming over so I will ask son in law what he thinks. :D Just asked hubby he replied "good lord thought they were green".
