Hi

I'm hoping somebody can help me as this is driving me to distraction. John Davies would be my maternal grandfather but I can't find his birth record to find out who his parents were. The information I have is:-

John Davies born 1887 Blaenllechau, Glamorgan (taken from 1911 Census). He married Mary Elizabeth Anthony in January 1904. They had 3 children - William John (my grandfather), Mary Ann (later changed to Marie) and Gwendoline.

Finding the right John davies is like trying to find a needle in a haystack and if anybody can help I would really appreciate it.

Thanks in advance
Caroline

Children:
Mary Ann (changed name later in life to Marie)

Also living there
Mary Ann Anthony mother in law
Gwilym Anthony
Alexander Anthony
Lily Maud Anthony

Many thanks if you can help me

Thanks very much. I'm in awe that you can find things so quickly. I'll have a look for the marriage cert on GRO website. If it matches this that will be amazing.

Thanks everybody so much :)

As long as it's the marriage cert of John Davies, firstly. Getting the cert for Evan Davies would be next. Do not jump a generational marriage cert.

It may well be Evan Davies as his father........but as a family historian, you should never make assumptions on what looks right. Documentation and more documentation, and more of the same.

Hello, I've been away from this site for some time, mainly because I'm lumbered with Evans/Davies surnames. My Davies is definitely not connected as there is no John Davies at all. However, I was born and brought up in Blaenllechau, know the streets like the back of my hand, although I left a lot of years ago. Did you find John Davies on the 1891 and 1901 census, which streets his family lived in. A lot of people in the village did move from one street to another in those years. Best Wishes. Brian.
