John Hamilton(c1845. Forfar) married Janet Morris(c1859.Clackmannan) about 1881 in Angus, Scotland, before the 1881 Scotland census.

1881 Scotland census, has them living @ Liff, Angus. But searching for a marriage there drew no records, only for the whole of Angus in 1881, was there one result.

No cash for credits, so where else to look.

Ended up in West Ham in 1911 census.

I have 12 credits for Scotlandspeople but they are inactive and apparently the only way to activate them is to buy 30 more for £7. Not a chance.

I had a look anyway and established that John Hamilton and Janet Morris married in 1881 in Angus, as you say. I don't know if you did this or not, but I then went through all the Towns/Districts in Angus, one by one until I came up with a result. They married in St Marys which, from what I can gather is a parish in the rural area of Dundee.

I doubt it helps much but I tried!

Thanks MLT. That does not seem reasonable to me, having to buy more.

I did the same as you, but didn't go all through the parishes.

I've got Jane/Jeanie/Jessie Morris back to her parents......Francis Morris and Isabella Bars.
It seems Francis Morris traveled all the way down to Dunchurch, Warks, to get married, which seemed a long way to go to find a spouse.:2fun:
