Hi Dave

Long shot time

There are a couple of trees that have the correct birth and death details and this:

John Hamilton
Spouse: Margaret Mccarthy
Date: 1893
Place: New South Wales
Reg Place: Marrickville, New South Wales
Reg Year: 1893
Reg number: 4730

There is a John and Margaret in Melbourne S. up to 1937 in the E/R.

Geoff

Edit: should be Melbourne N.

Thanks Geoff.

John is another of those easy ones in my tree.

Looks as though I'll have to get a copy of that marriage one day.

If you think that is difficult look for any trace of his cousin Linden McCOUBRIE aged 25 in 1886. :)

Death of John's aunt in Victoria:

No 1536 9 October 1886 Glen Park Shire of Bungaree County Grant Margaret McCoubrie Female 54 years Exhaustion Hydatid of Lungs and Liver 12 months Dr Womaski ? 22 September 1886 James Hamilton Farmer Ellen Hamilton MS Newell - 11639 - John Morris Assistant Undertaker employed at Funeral Ballarat East Wm D McKee 11 October 1886 Ballarat East 11 October 1886 Cemetery Ballaarat C Morris - Carter McSully ? Is this a sister?

Marriage 4731/1893 NEALE ARNOLD I - McCARTHY MARY J - MARRICKVILLE

Looks like a double wedding with consecutive reg #.

I wonder why John would be in Sydney? No relations there at all. Aunt and uncle and cousins and siblings all in Victoria. One uncle in north Queensland (my branch).

Is John buried in Fawkner?

The Argus (Melbourne, Vic. : 1848 - 1956) - Monday 18 August 1941 p.
FUNERAL NOTICES
HAMILTON.-The Friends of the late Mrs. MARGARET HAMILTON (widow of John Hamilton) are respectfully invited to follow her remalns to the place of interment, the Fawkner Cemetery.

It's possible there is more than one John and one Margaret.

Thanks gibbo.

Worth checking that one further. Seems Linden didn't stay in Victoria.
