Parents can only be Nicholas and Emily Tippett if father as John H and mother as Harriet on 1922 death reg are both wrong.

Age at death points to 1857 not 1859 so another issue there.

I believe the 1922 death is the right one but I have no evidence yet as to his correct parents.

According to the marriage the parents on the death reg are correct and the 1859 birth can't be correct.

I wasted my time chasing the wrong family.

Hi Dave. My Mother has told me Nanna’s (Minnie)father was John Nicholls. He was a gold miner who came from Victoria. Hence I believe he is John Henry Nicholls born in Ballarat in 1859 The connection of this man to Cornwall would fit given that he started life in the Victorian goldfields and then followed the gold to Parkes where he met Jane Clucas. He became a very skilled bricklayer and worked in Parkes. He also worked in Sydney when there was no work in Parkes. Some of the children were born while in Sydney. The children are Hilda b1893 Pks, May b1897 Pks, John E b1882 Pks, Ernest b 1884 Pks, Reta b 1900 Pks, Ivy b1899 Pks(I remember her), James(known as Jack) b 1885 Campelltown(Western Sydney), Violet J b1886 Newtown(Inner Sydney), Fred b1887 Campbelltown , Ethel b1888 Newtown, Minnie Anne(my Great Grandmother) b 1899 Newtown, Leila b 1907 Pks, Minnie married Walter Knox Andrews. I’ll try and send you a picture of Minnie and also Jane Clucas

Sorry, but that is not possible. The father and the mother on both the marriage and the death reg would both have to be wrong. Parents and age at death do not support that 1859 birth.

Hi Dave. Boy do I go down some wrong tracks. I agree that John Henry Nicholls and Harriet Callen were the parents of John H Nicholls. I’ll talk to Mum Again. Maybe my wires are crossed. I can see both their deaths and that ofJHJnr. Do you know where JH Jnr was born?

Hi Dave. Spoke to Mum today who confirmed John Henry Nicholls is buried in Parkes. She has his death certificate which I will look at when I see her in November. It should have his parents names and place of birth. Mum was very close to her Grandmother, Minnie but can’t remember any talk about her fathers relatives if he had any. She said he cam3 from Ballarat but she doesn’t know if he was born there.

Hi Dave. I’ve spent a few hours trawling through Victorian BDM. No luck with John Nicholls but have found four definite siblings and one possible. They are Harriet b 1863 Ballarat 6029/1863, Alfred b1861 Ballarat 20135/1861, Emmab1868 Ballarat 13634/1868, Amelia b1871 Ballarat 6987/1871(Harriet’s name is spelt Harriett on this record) and the possible Frances b1874 in Linton 2314/2874(mother recorded as Harriett Collin). I’m going to ask my brother to try looking through passenger lists but he is in Denmark at present. There is no John recorded as born at sea on the Victorian records either.
