Hello
Due to a encountering a brickwall regarding my family research on my Great Grandfathers WW1 record and Reg No., I investigated the 1918 Absent Voters List for The Parliamentary County of the North Riding of the County of York (Cleveland Division) and actually been successful in finding my Great Grand Fathers WW1 - Regiment Numbers (please see attached Medal Card and previous correspondence history below).

I had previously unintentionally been mis-informed by Middlesbrough Archives, with regards to Southbank being part of Middlesbrough's district jurisdiction.
Southbank was actually part of the County of North Yorkshire's jurisdiction. So in conclusion it is worth checking thoroughly all avenues and possibilities inorder to address a search problem.
Given that we now have John Jopseph Taylor’s Medal Card with Regimental information being:

Parish of Eston (North West Ward)

Royal Engineers - 270255
and also
Royal Engineers - WR 271990

According to the 1918 Voters List, John Joseph Taylor, my Great Grandfather had a recorded UK address as 95 Nelson Street, Southbank and listed immediately above him is a Simon Arthur Wood, Royal Engineers Reg No.430470, who’s recorded UK home address was 94 Nelson Street, Southbank. Both men are shown as Sappers in the Royal Engineers. It maybe fair to assume that they joined the R.E. and served King & country together. The question maybe – Does `Simon Arthur Wood’ have an existing Service History record.
Using this Medal Card information I have tried to search on Ancestry for a Pension & Service Record or any given detailed information.
Unfortunately, I have not been able to find any relevant Pension & Service Records. I am aware that many WW1 records including Service details were burnt during the Blitz in 1940 ?

Are you able to assist me with some Pension & Service Record detail for John Joseph Taylor using your access to resources and information or perhaps suggest other areas to search ?

I understand that if there is information available there would be a fee involved, however can you confirm if any good information or detail exists ?

Thankyou for your assistance,

Hi - Welcome to the forum

Do I take it you are only interested in John's service record?

I checked the latest census, and found he was already living at 95, a fish dealer, with his wife Harriet and children. Simon a plumber was already living at number 94 with his wife

Hello, Thankyou all very much for the feedback and assistance it is appreciated. Indeed, I am primarily interested in my Great Grandfather John Joseph Taylor's WW1 service/pension records if they exist.
I have mentioned Simon Arthur Wood, because on the 1918 Absent Voters list (Eston Branch) it shows both fellows listed as neighbours and both in the RE. This may just be a coincidence, but they may also have joined up together and served in the same theatre of war !
