Having frustrating time here. Trying to find parents of my John Lever married to Alice Birtwistle, living in Salford Manchester
Problem is I have 2 of em born 1832!! One has parents as John and Elizabeth, the other Robert and Nancy.
Both families live nearby (I think)and I am stumped by 1841 census reports from Ancestry.com.
One family lives Ancoats, the other Bolton. Both Johns born Manchester. Where do I go from here?
Robert and Nancy called their eldest child Robert (thought it was that family because of the tradition of calling after parents) then to top it off,
John and Alice called their first daughter Elizabeth (my GGgrandma) and guess what - yep - the other family are John and Elizabeth! I'm not really a gambling person and do like to be sure so I need some expert advice here please
Cheers
Karen :(

Hi Karen

The best thing to do would be to send off for John's marriage certificate to get his fathers name and occupation. This should help you decide which one is your John Lever.

I am sure that the 2 of them are related though.

Hi Ben
Thanks, I realised once I had gone to bed racking my brains! I had been searching for about 5 hours and was brain numb! I found the folio number on FreeBMD so will give it a go. zthey probably are related as you say but my problem is that there are so many of them in Manchester at that time and trying to sort through forums for my line is a brain drain
Cheers from Oz

Hi Ben
I now have marriage cert and John's father is William Lever - a bleacher. Address on marriage cert of John is 5 (looks like Munday St?) Ancoats. Now I cannot find William!

Could be the one with Nancy as the Mother, she has no husband with her in 1841 and by 1851 she is a 'widow'.

Was your John a Mechanic as that John with Nancy in 1851 is a Mechanic as is (what we can only presume is a son as relationships not given in 1841) Robert in the 1841.

Hi Gedcom
Yes he is, but his father is not listed as being deceased on the marriage certificate? I also cannot find a marriage yet for William and Nancy but will keep on searching. Not much luck on Ancestry.com either as yet
Cheers
