Looking for a death for John.

Thanks,

Dave

There is one on FreeBMD but the age is out by 10 years

John Moden Mar 1896 Chesterton 3b 304 age 65

I've checked and Chesterton is a suburb of Cambridge.

Emeltee

Thanks Emeltee.

Esther is a widow in 1901?

This looks like the right one, 30, 40 and 50 in the census. Can't see a baptism.

Births Jun Qtr 1840
Moden John Cambridge 14 21

I think you can disregard the death I found as I think he was buried in Cherry Hinton and I have found him in several Censuses born 1831, an Ag Lab living in Cherry Hinton.

Here is your John in the Censuses

1841
HO107/86/6/F9
Wheeler Street, Parson Court, St Edward, Cambridge
With parents Henry (Male Servant) and Sarah - surname given as Maden

1851
HO107/1760/F131/p6
East Road, St Andrew the Less, Cambridge
Still with Henry and Sarah although Henry is now a grocer

1861
RG09/1024/F51/p49
East Road, St Andrew the Less
Still with Henry and Sarah. Henry is now a Grocer and Brewer and John is his assistant

1871
RG10/1589/F63/p8
Holy Trinity, Cambridge
A wine and Sprirt Merchant married to Esther

Can't seem to see a death for him though.

Emeltee

I have found a newspaper item from the Cambridge Independent Press dated 21st July 1893 which reads

"Many of our readers will hear with regret of the death of Mr John Moden who left the town some time ago on account of failing health, and died of general paralysis on Tuesday at the age of 53"

He was buried at Mill Road Cemetery.

Given the date and the fact that he had left Cambridge I have found the followuing death

John Moden Sep 1893 4b 108

Emeltee

Thanks very much Emeltee.

I think that almost completes Moden family in my tree.

Not my line but the line of a 1st cousin.
