Hello crankypants,

There is no sign of a birth reg for a George.

Birth Reg# 23348
ANGEL, Samuel St Mark's, Fitzroy, Vic. Born: 1865 Baptism 1865.

Here Samuel has no middle name and all references to him in NZ also have no middle name.

Death notice refers to a 'George' and no reference to a 'Samuel' although Samuel didn't die until 1949 in NZ.

1903 VIC Electoral Roll - Corio - Geelong
ANGEL Elizabeth, Rourke crescent, home duties
ANGEL George, Rourke crescent, upholsterer

Is there anything else that proves Samuel, George and Samuel George are the same person?

Regards,

Dave

Hello crankypants,

It might be another mystery we can't solve.

I guess if there were two then there would be another birth and death reg or both would have been mentioned in the newspaper notice.

Dave

Hi Dave

Looking at all the information I would say it's the one person, but proving this is another matter.
Unless, do you have Stephen or Elizabeth's death certificate, do they mention children's names.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------

I can't see a birth or death for George to Stephen & Elizabeth.

• Victorian PO Directory 1914 (Wise)
Angel J. L. 413 Wllngtn. st. Clftn. Hill

(no Samuel or George in 1914 Post Office Directory) so did Samuel leave for New Zealand between 1909-1914.

(no George ANGEL after 1903 or death only a Samuel George in 1909 & no sign of S.G after 1909)

1903 VIC Electoral Roll - Corio - Geelong
ANGEL Elizabeth, Rourke crescent, home duties
ANGEL George, Rourke crescent, upholsterer

1909 VIC Electoral Roll - Batman - Delbridge
ANGEL Elizabeth Ann, 179 McKean Street, North Fitzroy, homes duties
ANGEL Joseph Lenton, 179 McKean Street, North Fitzroy, upholsterer
ANGEL Samuel George, 179 McKean Street, North Fitzroy, upholsterer

cheers

Hello crankypants,

Thanks for looking. Yes, no sign of another birth or death and no other E/R entries.

Still don't know when Samuel arrived in NZ.

:2fun: Elizabeth's death certificate is next on the list when NSW has a 'special' for transcriptions. :2fun:

Two related great aunts both in their 90s claim to have heard the family history of the ANGELS when they were young. Their version of events has proved in lots of ways to not be correct. >:D Things such as how old Stephen was when his parents died - claimed he was 4 years old but he was 13 when his mother died and 17 when his father died.

Dave
