Could someone look up this family in the earlier Census's please:

There appears to be something wrong with this entry in the 1881 Census as I can't believe that John Owen's Mother was 58 when he was born.

It would be good to be able to sort this family out who I think are my wife's relatives. we were looking for a John Owen born abt 1863 in Radcliffe who was married in Blackburn in 1905 and then lived in Gt Harwood.

Hi Edward,

Jane isnt with the family on the 1871 census. The head of household is William and he is 68. Not sure which one is Jane as there dosnt seem to be a place called Oridge and there are a few Jane Owens, tried multi map but came up with nothing. Elizabeth Smith is listed as daughter on the 1881 census aged 42 so perhaps Jane is that age? Do you know if they were married by 1861, if so could try looking at that census.

Hi,

We Know that John Owen's Father was Joseph Owen from John's Marriage Certificate. So would that fit with the family that you found in the 1871 Census?

We wondered if Jane realy came from Horwich which would make more sense and has either been incorrectly transcribed or wrongly recorded in the first place as often in Lancashire the H is not pronounced.

Edward, I forgot that Elizabeth Smith and Husband are living at the same address as the Owens in 1871 but seperate household, so this ties them together.

I am not sure about this one as being the family I am looking for as I have found in the 1881 Census a Joseph Owen from Bolton.

the Joseph in this family is the same age as the Joseph you found in the 1851 Census but isn't the one I am looking for as he does not have a child John Owen. I am trying to find a John Owen 42 in 1905 with a father of Joseph Owen.

Looking at the 1881 census I think that all the that children are grandchildren. As to Ellen there is a Margaret Owen on the 1861 census she is single with a daughter named Ellen age 1. Also on that page are 2 other families of Owens. Do you want the info? Joseph could be the Joseph on the 1851 census though his age differs and he has a sister Margaret.

Yes please I am not convinced that we have found John's father Joseph so any aditional information may be helpful.
