Hi there,

I am looking for a birth for John Paterson Lyle born about 1865-1868. He ultimately emigrated to South Africa and married there in 1898. He married an Elizabeth Inculden Nurse who was born in 1879 in South Africa.

His children were named:
Elizabeth Margaret
Muriel Adelaide Patterson
Marjorie Janet Lyle
Lillian Maud
Arthur John

Hi Jack,
Do you have a copy of his 1898 marriage certificate ? That should give his fathers name to help track him down.
As mentioned in the previous thread there are quite a few John Lyle's born Scotland around that time but nothing for John Patterson Lyle also nothing on England/Wales for John Patterson Lyle but a few John Lyle's around that time.
There are also quite a few John Lyle's on the IGI but that only goes up to 1875.
The only reference to a John P Lyle is on the 1881 Scotland census it gives his dob as 1877 and he is living with grandparents.
