No name of first wife. He only had 13 children.

Says he came from Goulburn but can't see a birth in NSW.

OBITUARY

MRS. E. M. WHITNEY
Mrs. Ethel May Whitney died at her residence in West Dubbo early this morning after a few months illness. She was 63 years of age. Born at Girilatnbone, she was the daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. F. J. Sutton. As a young girl, she came to reside in the Delroy district and for the past 20 years, lived at West Dubbo. Her husband, Mr. James Samuel Whitney, predeceased her in 1947. She is survived by a large grown-up family. Burial took place this afternoon after a service at the Presbyterian Church at 3 o'clock conducted by the Rev. M. O. Fox.

These are the only births i can find. You sure its the same fella who married both Rosina and Ethel and not 2 different families? His Samuel for the births to Rosina yet John S to all the births to Ethel.
