OBITUARY
Mr. J. S. Whitney
At the ripe age of 95, the death occurred on Sunday at his residence, Spence Street, West Dubbo, of John Samuel Whitney. Deceased had suffered a lengthy illness. Arriving at Dubbo at the age of 23, Mr. Whitney came from Goulburn, his birthplace. He married twice, his first wife predeceasing him many years back, and surviving children being Herbert, Gertrude, (Mrs. E. Powter) and Adelaide (Mrs. J. Murphy) Sydney.
His second marriage was with Ethel May Sutton at Dubbo. She survives him with Thelma (Mrs. W. Waser), John, Samuel, Richard, Leila (Mrs. A. Waser), Hugh, Hilda (Mrs. J. Booth), Dorothy (Mrs. I. Walmar), Lucy (Mrs. H. Warner) and Mary.
Interment took place in Dubbo Cemetery after a short service at the Presbyterian Church. The Rev. Gordon Garner officiated. Funeral arrangements were carried out by Messrs. C. J. Shakespeare and Sons.
I can't find the birth of John junior in NSW index or the marriage of his parents.
