John & Sarah Davies of Llandybie, Carmarthenshire

Hi everyone

I am looking for some help as I have hit a massive brick wall here and I have no family members alive to help me. My Great-Great-Grandfather, HECTOR DAVIES, was born in Llandybie, Carmarthenshire, in 1850. Parish records list him as the illegitimate son of Sarah. Hector's marriage certificate names Hector's father as John Davies, a labourer.
In the 1851 Census Hector is living with his aunty Margaret and her son, William. I have found some potential Sarah Davies in the 1830s in Llandybie but have not managed to find anything concrete. Unfortunately, the name John Davies was very popular in Wales and locating the right ancestor is proving almost impossible. I have been stuck on this for a number of months now and would be really grateful if anybody could help me over these hurdles.

Many thanks
Caroline
