OBITUARY
CAPTAIN JOHN SIMPSON
A well-known figure in Tweed River shipping for many years, Captain John Simpson, died in a Brisbane hospital on Saturday night last after a lengthy illness. Captain Simpson was in the employof the C.S.R. Co. at Broadwater for several years and came to the Tweed over 30 years ago. He was skipper of the "Mebbin" for Skinner, Lowes and Co. for a number of years and also conducted a carrying business at Tweed Heads. He is survived by a widow, three married daughters and one son.. The daughters are Mrs. C. Tredwell (Murwillumbah), Mrs. G. Sands (Tweed Heads) and Mrs. B. Nottingham (Murwillumbah), whilst Mr. W. A. Simpson (Windsor, Q.) is a son. There are also 10 grandchildren. The late Mr. Simpson was a staunch Oddfellow, being a member of the Manchester Unity Order for 45 years. The burial took place in Brisbane.

1865 arrival is a problem with age of daughter Elizabeth. Ages are way out. 1862 marriage does not fit with ages of children. 2x Peter & Jane arriving about the same time?

I didn't know George Henry was in the CMF.
