I'm looking for the death of John Taylor b c1804 a blacksmith of Twickenham and there is a death in Twickenham in 1871 for a John Taylor which I thought great I've found him.
Then FMP put some Memorials on their site and there was a John on it but this was not my John as it has Taylor names I haven't heard of. The last record I have is the 1851 census which tells me he was born in Newent Gloucestershire, where I've had problems finding his DOB.
The John Taylor who d in 1871 was born in Surrey and living in Twickenham in 1861 with wife Hester.

I think my John probably died before 1861 because wife Ann was living as a lodger with a family called Alexander. There are several deaths registered in Brentford, but I can't pinpoint if one of these belongs to my John and I can't see any other burials in Twickenham.

Many thanks

Amanda

That is the baptism I've been using in 1799 even though the 1841 and 1851 have him b1806, then it must be right because the one in 1804 Tibberton was living in Westbury on Severn in the census'.

Interesting the William and Thomas Taylor mentioned on the British Directory because I found a William and Thomas Taylor in the 1841 census Richmond upon Thames and they were not born in the county so I'm wondering if they were related to John?? Sadly I haven't found either of them in the 1851 census to know if they were related.

Yes that's the correct marriage I found Ann easier than expected, and that was their daughter's baptism but she died as an infant.

Maybe a Poor Relief record could help. Great believer on records as i had someone change their surname ,and it was a poor relief for a niece that stated he was an Uncle.Had him in 1841 census with his right surname.

I have now found John in the 1861 census on his own, a pauper in the Brentford workhouse and the estimated DOB was 1797 which could make the baptism in 1798/99 correct. Just to confuse the issue, he says he was born Hartland (Hentland) Herefordshire!!

I've also found his death in1870 Turnham Green.

I don't think there was a John Taylor born in Hentland 1798/99, unless I need to wait for more records to become available??
