SS Roscommon, built by Workman, Clark & Co. Ltd., Belfast in 1902 and owned at the time of her loss by Union Steamship Co. of New Zealand, Ltd., London, was a British steamer of 8238 tons. On August 21st, 1917, Roscommon, on a voyage from Manchester to Australia with general cargo, was sunk by the German submarine U-53 (Hans Rose), 20 miles northeast of Tory Island. There were no casualties. Read more at wrecksite: https://www.wrecksite.eu/wreck.aspx?63170

Thanks Val.

I didn't know Rose remarried but I knew her death reg had Johnson.

I'll leave the query re father being Edward Albert in the other topic.

I need the birth reg in post #1 but my browser won't return any births from Qld index for some reason.

Don't know about this. If that is the right Albert married to Rose then who is Amy married to? - William?

1917 QLD Electoral Roll - Lilley - Enoggera
JOHNSON Albert Edward, Simpson's rd., Bardon Estate, fitter
JOHNSON Amy Elizabeth, Simpson's rd., housewife
JOHNSON Rose, Simpson's rd., Bardon Estate, home duties
JOHNSON William, Simpson's rd., compositor

I can't find a marriage for a William to an Amy.

1925 QLD Electoral Roll - Lilley - Enoggera
JOHNSTON William Hope, Bardon Park Estate, Upper Paddington, carpenter
JOHNSTON Mabel Marion, Bardon Park Estate, Upper Paddington, home d.
