Not an easy one, Dave. There's no obvious way to find John in 1841, as you say the BiC or not doesn't help unless it is correct. He's not with parents, so either with other family members or working at a live-in position [age about 14y].

So, is John an only child and parents died before 1837 or did they die outside Worcester?

Can't cee a baptism for Susan Hampton.

If that is the right baptism for Susan Ashford then the 1841 and 1851 census in Suffolk can't be her unless her age is way out in both.
