The Sydney Morning Herald - Tuesday 12 December 1916 p.6
DEATHS
JONES.-December 11, 1916, at his late residence, 2 Hordern-street, Newtown, John Jones. By request, no flowers.

You may remember this one gibbo. :) Loyal Strangers Lodge.

But the obit for John is new.

This is a bit curious:

Page 27 & 28
Burials in the Parish of St. Saviour in the County of Argyle in the Year 1854
No. 406 Henry Jones Abode: Goulburn When Died: 21 Augt. When Buried: 23 Augt. Age: 37 Quality or Profession: Labourer By whom the ceremony was performed: William Sowerby

That is not O'connell/Newtown.

That is the only reg 1853-1855 so one death reg is missing. I don't think the Goulburn one is Henry Owen.

Assisted
Henry Jones
Birth Year: abt 1805
Age: 37
Arrival Date: 29 Jan 1842
Vessel Name: William Sharples
[With Margaret 37, John 16, William 3, Ann 2]

Geoff

Going by the obit, age for John fits good. His death index has mother as Grace and since there is a huge gap between John 16 and William 3 maybe Grace had died previously and Margaret was his step mother.
