Hi all,
I am looking for any information about a marriage between John Jones born 1823 in Shrewsbury to Hannah Prescott. I have been unable to find anything except her christian name is on her son's death certificate. He died in NSW Australia. I am not even sure where the name Prescott came from.
Hopefully
Barbara

Julie,
I don't know much. As I said John (the father) was born 1823, in Shrewsbury,Shropshire. Info that I have was that the son John was born in 1838 in Somerset. Not sure if that is correct as the date doesn't jell with the death certificate. The only other info is that his mother's name Hannah Priscott/Prescott? was on his death certificate. He died in 1888 in Deniliquin NSW.
The copy of the death certificate states that he was born in Somerset, 6o yrs of age when he died and was 38 yrs old when he married.

I don't know if that helps at all but I appreciate any help or advice.
Thanks Barbara.

Hi Barbara,

Sorry but I'm not finding anything at the moment. Jones isnt the best name to work with :) The dates as you say don't jell. John jnr was 60 when he died in 1888 which makes him born 1828. John snr born abt 1823 . Who did John jnr marry was it in England?

Hi Julie It may help you if you look at Barbara's two other threads - headed At a standstill and Prescott. - Do a search on Prescott.

Thanks Julie,
I know how difficult it is. I have tried everyway I know. John the son, married a Mary Ann Walker in Sydney in 1863. She was born in Sydney. What a pity they didn't have an unusual name. How much easier it would be. The only time his parents names come up is on the death certificate.
As I said I do appreciate you help,
Barbara
