Jones/Willims of Morriston, Llangafelach

I'm having trouble finding anything about my gt grandparents Thomas Jones, born 20 Aug 1845 in Llandilo Fawr Carmarthen, and Margaret Williams, c1844 born Llangafelach Glamorgan. I was given a marriage date of 2nd Sept 1870 by their granddaughter, my aunt, but I can't find any record of it. I did find one record in 1866, but it's not the right one. Any helpwould be gratefully received! The Welsh side of my family treeis really like wading through treacle!!

Did you look through the partial bmd?. There are plenty of Thomas Jones and Margaret Williams on the full bmd for Sept 1/4 1870.

The free BMD and Ancestrys BMD are free to view they do not cover all dates, only go so far, but the full BMD has indexes for all years but they are pay per view on Ancestry and Findmypast.

do you know the district and subdistrict, both margaret williams and thomas Jones are popular names, the name margaret had over 20 registeries in that quarter and year and thomas over 70

Both Thomas was born in Carmarthen, althoug both he an Margaret lived in Morriston in the distric of Llangafelach. In fact my aunt, their granddaugher, still lives not far away. That's my trouble, Joyce, the popularity of the names!!! My aunt told me that they married 2nd Sept 1870, but unlss I am prepared to fork out for a search on every marriage certificate (I've already bought one which was wrong) it's like looking for a needle in a haystack! All I really need is the fathers' names, then I'd know which of about three families is the right one. Ah, the joys of family research!!!
