Please see if you can find the family in 1841 and 1851. Thanks.

Looks like PROV is down so I can't check Victorian shipping records. Can't see the family arriving in NSW.
The first reference to Jordan I can find is in SMH in Dec 1855.

There are 5 WAINWRIGHT couples in NSW with children born 1850-1855.

Regards,

Dave

Hello crankypants,

Thank you very much. I still can't find them in shipping records but some of the other families are there.

The reference in SMH in Dec 1855 was to Jordon's son William who had absconded from his indenture (as a flute maker? :2fun: no wonder he ran off and hid. :D )

Regards,

Dave

Hello crankypants,

They did arrive. Well, they died in NSW. :D

# 4313/1884 WAINWRIGHT JORDAN JAMES PHOEBE NEWTOWN

The Sydney Morning Herald - Monday 11 August 1884 p.1
DEATHS
WAINWRIGHT.-August 10, at his residence, No. 1, Don terrace, off Station-street, Newtown, Mr. Jordan Wainwright, aged 87 years.

# 2176/1872 WAINWRIGHT PHOEBE THOMAS DIED NEWTOWN NEWTOWN

The Sydney Morning Herald - Wednesday 27 November 1872 p.1
DEATHS
On the 24th instant, after along and painful illness, PHOEBE, the beloved wife of Mr. JORDAN WAINWRIGHT, aged 67 years.

I'm really surprised to see 5 WAINWRIGHT couples in NSW with children born 1850-1855. I wonder how many are Jordan's siblings.

William & Bridget, James & Catherine, John P. & Susannah, Robert & Margaret.

I wonder if that is an error in Jordan's death reg with mother = Phoebe. ???

EDIT: I bet the P. in John P. = PEERS. Actually, according to entries in SMH the P= Pearson. ???

However only Jordon appears in IGI in that batch.

Regards,

Dave

Hello crankypants,

Yes.

Well now. Pearce/Pierce/Peers - it's PEERS :D :D Middle name.

And both father and mother are wrong. :2fun:

Jordan WAINWRIGHT c. 12 Dec 1797 Christchurch-Hunter Street, Liverpool, Lancashire, England

Father: WILLIAM WAINWRIGHT
Mother: ELIZABETH PEERS

Batch: C150651

The place of birth and age at death fit so it looks as though the parents listed on his death certificate are wrong.

Regards,

Dave
