Mother said to be Elizabeth PICKERING from a death certificate of brother John:

Reg No. 06635. Died 30 Aug 1863 at Wollenbeen, Burrangong. John was shot and killed by John O'Malley, Bush Ranger. His Father is Joseph Barnes. Occ. Brewer: Mother: Elizabeth Pickering. Where Born England. Time in Colony 22yrs in NSW. Married: London Age at Marriage 21. Spouse Elizabeth King. Children of Marriage 5 Males 1 Female Living. 1 Male 2 Females Deceased.

Does the baptism record say Joseph Samuel was born in Middlesex?

I ask because a baptism record for his sister Susannah has born Bedford and baptised in Middlesex.

Can that be shown to be correct?

Since i cant find Joseph i thought i would trace John and see if Joseph's arrival can be found that way.

Yes, that's the John in my tree.

I have no proof yet that it is the same John on the 'Abbotsford' in 1840.

That info came from another researcher of the family.

I could be wrong but for now im not convinced the Abbotsford and Jane are the right arrivals for the boys. I'll see if i can find anything else to confirm or elminate them ships.

It has always been a difficult family right from the baptisms or lack of them in Bedfordshire and Middlesex, then arrivals and on to death reg.

I found the one that their sister Susannah was supposed to have arrived on but there isnt any info to confirm its her.

It seems the State Records have some films that are not on-line and not even at the State Library. They no longer have a 'Reading Room' in Sydney. It's way out in an outer suburb.
