Hello Dave,

Thanks for looking.

I'm not sure if I have one Joseph who married twice or one who married late in life or two different ones both born about the same time in Bitton.

Dave

Hello Julie,

Thank you very much. Yes, I was trying to trace back the same Joseph.

Elizabeth LEAR

married 14 Sep 1859 Abbots Leigh (Holy Trinity), Somerset

Joseph PEACOCK
You have found the same railway worker in 1851 with spouse Elizabeth. The question now becomes: Is it the same Joseph in the above marriage and he married twice and both to an Elizabeth? If so, when was his first marriage?

If it's not the same Joseph then the two questions become: Where is the marriage for my Joseph the railway worker? Can we find a second Joseph (the one in the above marriage) with spouse Elizabeth in 1861?

Does that make sense? ;)

Regards,

Dave

Hello,

I have a Joseph born about 1821 Bitton. I don't know if he is older or younger than brother Isaac. Either way, Joseph is not with the family in 1841:

1841
HO107/piece 361 bk 16 f 50 p 3
Civil parish Bitton
RD Keynsham
Sub RD Bitton
ED 9a
Daniel Peacock age 50 occ fish monger
Ann Peacock age 49
Isaac Peacock age 20 occ labourer
Mary Peacock age 14
Aaron Peacock age 12
Daniel Peacock age 10
Thomas Peacock age 8
William Peacock age 5
All born in county
So, I have Isaac and Aaron (also a railway worker) both in Glamorgan in 1851. We have a Joseph born about 1821 Bitton also in Glamorgan in 1851. It's too much of a coincidence. I think the railway worker is my Joseph.

Can Joseph be found single or married in 1841?

Regards,

Dave

Hello cp,

Thank you very much. :)

PEACOCK Elizabeth of 361 Oakfield-road Frome Somersetshire widow died 30 October 1913 Probate Wells 19 November to James Lear Peacock retired licensed victualler and Joseph Lear Peacock iron moulder and Edwin John Jelly accountant. Effects £821 11s. 4d.
Now are they the children? If so can we prove both changed occupations?

James as a fitter and Joseph a saddler. ???

1861
Civil parish: Frome
Ecclesiastical parish: St John
Town: Frome
County/Island: Somerset
Country: England
Registration district: Frome
Sub-registration district: Frome
Address: Pilly Vale, Frome
PEACOCK, Joseph Head Married M 40 1821 Railway Contractor Bitton Gloucestershire
PEACOCK, Elizabeth Wife Married F 41 1820 Railway Contractors Wife Bitton Gloucestershire
PEACOCK, James Son Unmarried M 18 1843 Engineer Fitter Apprentice Gloucestershire
PEACOCK, Joseph Son Unmarried M 15 1846 Saddler Apprentice Swansea Wales

PEACOCK, Elizabeth Ame Daughter U F 7 1854 Frome Somerset
PEACOCK, Anne Daughter U F 6 1855 Frome Somerset
PEACOCK, Mary Jane Daughter U F 3 1858 Frome Somerset
If they are the sons the middle name came from their mother and that means the 1859 marriage must have been Joseph's 2nd and a late first one in life for Elizabeth LEAR. Then Joseph's first spouse was also Elizabeth - we now have them in 1851 in Swansea - so is it Elizabeth PRESTON and when did she die?

Births Sep 1857
Peacock Mary Jane Frome 5c 536
Births Dec 1857
Peacock Mary Jane Frome 5c 5[35]5

So she must have died 1857 (if Mary Jane was born 1857) to 1859 but I can't see a death yet. ???

Regards,

Dave

Hello cp,

Thank you very much.

We have a problem or a dozen. :D

The 1859 marriage has them BOTH as being single. So?

There are children born before 1859 and they are not listed as nephew or step-son or ....

Ok. Can we find another Joseph and Elizabeth (probably younger to fit the year of marriage - probably 1 child 2 years old or at most 2 young children) in 1861 but not this one:

1861
Civil parish: Frome
Ecclesiastical parish: St John
Town: Frome
County/Island: Somerset
Country: England
Registration district: Frome
Sub-registration district: Frome
Address: Pilly Vale, Frome
PEACOCK, Joseph Head Married M 40 1821 Railway Contractor Bitton Gloucestershire
PEACOCK, Elizabeth Wife Married F 41 1820 Railway Contractors Wife Bitton Gloucestershire
Any thoughts? (I can always post NOBLE) >:D

Regards,

Dave
