Hello,

Joseph PEACOCK baptised 7 Sep 1806 Hanham, Gloucester

Listed as a 'husbandman of Oldland' in 1833.

I'd like a look up please for Joseph in 1841.

Regards,

Dave

Thanks Barbara. It must mean the one I'm chasing, son of Isaac & Hannah, died before 1841:

Joseph Peacock
England, Births and Christenings, 1538-1975
christening 04 Jul 1813 Siston, Gloucester, England
residence Siston, Gloucester, England
parent James Peacock, Elizabeth

So I looked for a burial 1833-1841 and:

Joseph Peacock
England Deaths and Burials, 1538-1991
burial 4 Jan 1833 Siston, Gloucester, England

Not my Joseph either because he signed a Letters of Administration for his mother's estate on 23 April 1833.

No, just drawing a blank, looked in Somerset too but one is a grocer. One in middlesex and not born there but is a servant so none look likely. Sorry, Dave.

Thanks Barbara.

There is this death I can't attach to one in my tree:

Deaths Jun 1861
Peacock Joseph Keynsham 5c 503

As well as the one baptised 1806 to parents Isaac & Hannah I have this one aged 2 who has not been found after 1841 but no death that fits 1841-1851:

1841
Civil Parish: Bitton
County: Gloucestershire
Registration District: Keynsham
Sub-RD: Bitton
Address: Cockroad, Bitton, Oldland
PEACOCK, Aaron M 30 1811 Gloucestershire
PEACOCK, Ann F 30 1811 Gloucestershire
PEACOCK, Elizabeth F 10 1831 Gloucestershire
PEACOCK, Maryann F 10 1831 Gloucestershire
PEACOCK, Emma F 5 1836 Gloucestershire
PEACOCK, Joseph M 2 1839 Gloucestershire
PEACOCK, Samuel M 0 (4m) 1841 Gloucestershire

--

The Joseph born 1821 died 1905 - railway contractor - he is accounted for.

The Joseph born 1846 died 1940 - iron moulder - he is accounted for.

Regards,

Dave

Yes thanks, Geoff. This is still unresolved.

The death in 1861 is not the one I'm chasing nor is the one aged 2 in 1841 census.

Did the Joseph born abt 1806 Hanham and alive in April 1833 died before 1838? Can't be sure yet.

No sign of a death 1837-1861 and no sign of him in 1841. Any sign of one who fits in 1851 or 1861? Assuming residing in Gloucester/Somerset and Glamorgan only. And born Bitton, Hanham, Oldland or Kingswood but not Siston or others.

It would appear more likely that he died between 1833-1838 because there doesn't appear to be a suitable death on the FreeBMD within 100y of his birth after 1838 in GLS. That is just an observation, still checking other avenues.

I tend to agree Geoff, even though some of the family worked on the railways in Glamorgan.

This mysterious one is an example. Not found in 1851 census.

Births Sep 1850
Peacock Isaac Lear Swansea 26 581

Deaths Jun 1852
Peacock Isaac Lear Swansea 11a 281

Joseph & Elizabeth both born Bitton abt 1820:

1851
HO107 Piece 2466 Folio 370 Page 55
Civil Parish: Swansea
Address:
Joseph Peacock head age 31 occ
Elizabeth wife age 32
James Peacock male age 8
Joseph Peacock male age 5
Jane Peacock age 1
No places of birth given nor occupation for Joseph.

Is Jane Isaac ??? No sign of a reg for Jane 1849-1851 if born in Glamorgan.

I've found problems following them in their birth areas/Bristol, I haven't seen any in Wales until you pointed that one out. There are a couple that have migrated south to Somerset or victims of boundary changes. Will have a quick look then have to go for a while.
