Hello dave,

Thank you very much. Son Joshua is the one I'm related to. He and his spouse ended up in Victoria in 1855 or 1856 soon after their marriage. I've not found them in shipping records yet but I think he is on the electoral roll in 1856 in Collingwood.

Please see if you can find the son Joshua in 1841 and 1851. Thanks.

Regards,

Dave

HelloDave,

Thank you very much. That's the 2nd HIRST family from WRY I now have in my tree. :)

I've just found a marriage for Rebecca in Victoria. So, not only some WALKER but some of the HIRST family came to Australia.

The Argus (Melbourne, Vic. : 1848-1954) - Saturday 15 August 1885 p.1
MARRIAGES
LITTLE-HIRST. —On the 15th ult., at Maryfield, St James Park, Hawthorn, the residence of the bride's brother-in-law, Mr. Haigh, by the Rev. J. D. Hamer, Richard Little, of Melbourne, to Rebecca, youngest daughter of the late James Hirst, of Halifax, Yorkshire, England.

Regards,

Dave

Hello,

This does not seem to fit:

HURST ---- MRS 37 APR 1854 ROYAL SHEPHERD B 066 001
HURST JAMES 10 APR 1854 ROYAL SHEPHERD B 066 001
HURST JAMES 40 APR 1854 ROYAL SHEPHERD B 066 001
HURST JOHN 6 APR 1854 ROYAL SHEPHERD B 066 001
HURST LOUISA 8 APR 1854 ROYAL SHEPHERD B 066 001
HURST REBECCA 14 APR 1854 ROYAL SHEPHERD B 066 001

Joshua WALKER, junior (not with family in 1841) arrived 1855 or 1856 so I'd expect some of the HIRST family to arrive on the same vessel or about the same time.

Please see if you can find both families in 1851. Thanks.

Regards,

Dave

Hello dave,

Sorry, don't know his occupation yet. Apart from the index I've not seen a copy of the 1856 Electoral Roll yet for Collingwood, Vic..

IGI has this as his birth:

Joshua b. 21 Jul 1829 Dr Williams Library, London so I'm not sure. I can't see a baptism in FreeREG.

Regards,

Dave

Hello dave,

Thanks. It makes sense he'd be away in school somewhere. This is a work in progress. :) One of the WALKER descendants who lives in Queensland turns 92 on 3 October and I had a phone call from her yesterday. She was wishing happy birthday to another member of my family who turned 90 last week! :D Yeah, well my grandmother HAMILTON lived to 99. Damn, I wanted to see the telegram from the Queen. :2fun:

Regards,

Dave

Hello dave,

Ok, thanks. I'll put that aside. I'll have to get gibbo or CP to look up the Electoral Roll for me.

Hello dave,

Thanks. Oh, that is sad. My father had his 90th two weeks ago.

Now I'll have to see if I can find Elizabeth in Australia as well. No luck so far.

Dave

Hello dave,

Thank you very much. I'm glad it didn't say 'Stuffed Shirt' :2fun:

Ah, Elizabeth Wood could be Lucy's sister.

I have a possible baptism for James: c. 14 Dec 1800 Halifax, Yorkshire - father George & mother ?

So now I have to find Lucy's death.

Regards,

Dave
