I dont know much about Tasmanian BMD records so bear with me please.

Im trying to find if there is a marriage for a Bridget Langton nee Judge and a Daniel Leary in the 1820's in Tasmania. Bridget and Daniel had several kids but dont know if they married or not.

Also trying to find the death index for Daniel who appears to have been executed in 1829 in Tasmania. Trying to see if this was Bridget's Daniel as her Daniel disappeared off the scene around the same time and no one knows what happened to him and would like to order the death cert. for this Daniel.

Bridget and Daniel had both been convicts.

Thank you.

Hello gibbo,

You have probably looked at Tasmanian Archives.

I can't see a permission to marry or a marriage or a list of the family.

I noticed this question has been unanswered since 1999. :2fun:

Would anyone have any info about a Daniel Leary who was executed somewhere in Tasmania in 1829?
Regards,

Dave

Hi Dave,
Yep been in the Tassie archives all day nearly:biggrin:
If they were "free" when they married they wouldnt need permission to marry would they?
Apparently Bridget's death cert has little or no info but im wonder if i can get my hands on Daniel's if it might give something up.
Thanks for having a look.

Hello gibbo,

No, but do you know when they became free?

I noticed they arrived in NSW then got sent to Tasmania.

I also noticed there are several Daniel LEARYs.

Googling didn't help.

Dave

Bridget got her "free"cert issued in 1822. As for Daniel Leary i have no idea.
Working from notes i have been given there is very little information on Daniel but i think i have found the right one, the one who was executed been him.

Bridget had some kids to a Patrick Langton who she later married and he died in 1823. They lived in or around a area called Patterson's Plains.
Bridget then was with a Daniel Leary and he disappeared from any records to do with her around 1829/1830. Around the time this Daniel was executed. Also in this Daniel's convict records Patterson's Plains is also mentioned.
Bridget then went on to marry William Rodd who as it turns out come out on the same ship as Daniel. Maybe she met William through Daniel.

You confused yet? :2fun::2fun::2fun:

So looking to see if there was a marriage record for Bridget and Daniel and/or the death index so i can order the death cert. for Daniel, was hoping a death cert. for Daniel might have some info on it such as wife's name etc. on it.
