Information by the American files goes to show that Jules Simonsen, the tenor, well known in Sydney, who was driven by hunger to rob several houses in San Francisco, has been convicted of burglary in the first degree, and sentenced to twelve years' imprisonment.

Mdlle. Alda, a grand-daughter of Martin Simonson is making a name for herself in grand opera in Europe. A more ill-fated couple never existed than poor old Martin and his wife. Madame worked like a horse at giving music lessons and finally went broke with an asset of ten shillings. Martin in his palmy days gave large sums to Melbourne hospitals and died in absolute want. Their daughter Frances Saville is doing well in Europe, but where is Jules Simonsen ?
