Hi everyone
I found this site during a search for one of my ancestors where a member was asking for information. I realised I had some additional info that the OP may not be aware of and which hopefully might be of interest. I have been thinking about joining a genealogy forum for a while and after having a read through several posts here, I thought this would also be a really good place to start.
I caught the genealogy 'bug' after a semi-casual online name search amazingly resulted in finding family I knew little or nothing about and have been doing research on and off since then. Although I've been doing this a while, I'm not hugely knowledgeable about the subject; just basically learning as I go. I have been quite lucky in finding existing family trees which were relevant (although was slightly stunned to find one ancestor who managed to father 18 children).
I am currently concentrating on the Shakespeares of Swindon (as it's a fairly unusual surname in that area it's easier to find information). It was quite a thrill, after spending time researching one particular person ... trying to flesh out the sparse info, to suddenly find a portrait photo. Especially so because I could clearly see the family resemblance.
I am still figuring out a lot of this stuff myself, so not sure how much help I can be to others (hopefully some); and will definately appreciate any advice received.
