Thanks Emeltee. :)

1891 plus lodger Lizzie Stewart 20 Linen Weaver Dunfermline

I have Keltie and Balfour in my direct line with a very strong connection to the village of Torryburn but so far can't connect either of these Keltie or Balfour lines.

I have 5 generations of Adam Keltie in my tree but not a single Alexander.

Perhaps Alexander Keltie b. Carnock is not connected and the connection to Torryburn is via wife Elisabeth Balfour. Most of the 'Elizabeths' in my tree with connection to Torryburn are 'Elisabeth' in birth/baptism records.

I have 3 generations of Balfour (variations) but I've traced nothing so far after this marriage on Balfour line.

03/12/1784 SANDS WILLIAM - CHRISTIAN BALFOUR/ M Torryburn /FIFE 458/ 0020 0494 * Image *

Gave up their names for Proclamation in order to Marriage.
Wm Sands & Christian Balfour both in this parish.

IGI Batch: M114586

Christian b. 10 Aug 1754 Torryburn, Fife
James BALFOUR & Margaret BALD
Batch: C114584

He'd be 17 if the one who married Mary Erskine.

Robert Balfour
Christening Date 30 Sep 1770
Christening Place TORRYBURN, FIFE
Birth Date 23 Sep 1770
Father's Name Robert Balfour
Mother's Name Helen Nicol
Batch: C114585
GS Film number 1040182

I'll have to find all the baptism records for children of Robert & Helen and Robert & Mary and try to match naming pattern.

Children of Robert & Mary Erskine
Alexander 1788

No Alexander son of Robert & Helen.

I should be going backwards only. Have to work from the 1841 and 1851 census in post #6 and decide on parents for Andrew Balfour. Then try to go back again having Andrew's siblings from birth records and naming pattern.

I think we may be stuck looking at 1851 census in post #6.

If Andrew's parents are Andrew & Elizabeth and not Robert & Mary then we have no baptism or the naming pattern was not followed.

The only baptism is for Andrew son of Robert & Mary Erskine.

If we look at their children we have eldest son Alexander but no son Alexander for James & Margaret Bald.

Not a fit that way.

I'll sleep on it and may or may not try further.
