I'm making no progress with 1851 on FreeCEN.

Some not so common names also and still can't find records I need.

1916/B24404 McLennan Kenneth - McLennan - ** born Scotland aged 87 years

So age at death and age in shipping record indicate he was born abt 1829-1831.

The marriage notice does not give a place of origin for Kenneth.

This one was born in Moray but in 1857 so not the John who arrived in 1855:

Death 5811/1928 GRANT JOHN - GREGOR - MARGARET - ANNANDALE

I'm still searching for Elspeth's death.

Death 1912/C01288 McLennan Ann - Gregory Grant - Janet Grant

Mother's maiden name is included in Queensland records so if it's not an error then that is Janet's maiden name.

I'm stuck.

I can't find Elspeth after her arrival.

I can't find the family in 1851 although we know they arrived in 1855.

I can't find the marriage or Janet's maiden name.

Hello Barbara,

Thank you very much.

They didn't marry on board.

The Moreton Bay Courier (Brisbane, Qld. : 1846-1861) - Saturday 3 November 1855 p. 3
MARRIED
At Ipswich, on the 18th ult., by the Rev. Dr. Neilson, Kenneth McLennan, Stonecutter, to Ann, fifth daughter of Gregor Grant, Grantown, Strathspey, Scotland.
So four not in the 1841 census. One, Mary, in the shipping record. But several sons in shipping record also not with family in 1851. I'm wondering if there is some sort of error on my part.

Regards,

Dave

Yes. I will look at the shipping reel next time I'm at the library, but the Queensland reels are really poor quality and don't have much info. I might get no relationships, no parents names and no origin. Probably just a tick in the 'Scotland' column.

I can search the Queensland BMD for deaths. That killed a few minutes.
